Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorned for PS2."

How xbox is so crappy?  They had the "red ring of death thing"....but at least they replaced the units to their customers.  Their processing power is lower than PS3, but their graphics processing unit is far superior to PS3.
The obvious is that my buddies have PS3's.
I know that most of you paid a lot more money than I did cause I waited for a price drop.  But I still paid $400 for mine.  I expect it to last longer than 1.5 years.  Now another one for $300??...if I can even find one.  Just so Sony can rake in some more money?  They know that they have a problem, and they don't fix it or take care of their customers on this.?.  Like I said...at least xbox replaced their faulty units.
Somebody talk me out of it!

Two Words- MON TAGE!!!!!!!!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/-0-0CkrzyKg&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/-0-0CkrzyKg&rel=0</a>

hmm, let's see

better games for one, plus I rather have a more reliable system (even though they do fail, just no where near as frequently) than a flawed one that they can't seem to fix-so due to numerous lawsuits they are forced to fix over and over (>54% failure rate),  and best of all...We are there!!!!!!!!!

In short....NOOOO!!!!!!! Don't cross over to the darkside, don't turn to a pile of Sith...

but here's a nice comparison to what you get for your money....minus the continuing costs to buy your online playing capabilities

For the features I want $300 is a lot better that $550 for the elite (closest approximation to what the PS3 has). Plus you'd have to start buying all new acessories, services, and games....so over all it's still cheaper to just replace at $300, if you decide not to repair ($150) through sony

It's kinda funny though (exclusion to Nerf cause I know his issue) everywhere on the net, PS3 owners-if they have an issue they threaten to go to the Box, and Box owners- after their 6th failure in less than 3 yrs, threaten to go to the PS3 (once the warranty is out or they get fed up with constantly waiting for repair)

The Net is such a peculiar place.

It is unfortunate that Sony charges for repair, but I've had mine repaired and the process was pretty much painless except for the money part (and much cheaper than buying new). And no problems since...crosses fingers. I guess I'm just a Fanboy but even if it did fail again I wouldn't go to the Box side (unless the console was really cheap and they stopped charging for online play). Just not a fan of how Microsoft does business, and there's more exclusives from Sony that I prefer.

Just so you know their graphics processing unit maybe better, but the real difference is the PS3's cell processor that allows the games on the ps3 to run at much higher quality ex. Killzone, Uncharted... etc. so if you gonna base your choice off graphics... Don't

Buy a Wii, a REAL console. Grin j/k.

I've played both the 360 and PS3 and they both have their ups and downs. In terms of games, there pretty much equal with the exception of a few good exclusives. Uncharted, Mass Effect, MGS4, etc. It sucks that they charge to repair. Mine's stayed pretty healthy so far and hopefully it stays that way. I don't run it much and for long lapses of time either. Some of the stories with the PS3's is rather discouraging but from what I gather are rare.'

One note though. I played the hell out of my PS2 and that lasted a good 7 years without things starting to fail on it. I went through an unacceptable number of controllers though. Undecided Unlike my original Playstation controllers that still work fine and I've had those since 1998.

Yea, I still have my big boxy ps2 I got when it first was released and still runs like a champ. Word of advice if your going to buy another ps3 or get a 360 whatever you decide to get, buy it from walmart or some other place that offer extended warranty because thats what I did and it saved me $150 and only took about a week and a half

i shouldnt be writing this cause it will give me some bad luck but what the hell ill take me chances. i bought mine when it first came out and haven't had one problem with mine ,besides that cover for the memory cards falling off. i do think running them for long periods of time makes a differents. mine is in a well  ventilated area and i clean mine every other day religiously with dust remover. also i know most of you guys dont know about the energysaving setting that your ps3 has like for your controler if you dont use it for more then ten minutes it turns off.  the same for the ps3 itself you can have it turn off 1,2,3 hours if not in use......dont know if anything i do is making a differents or im just lucky but still have my original ps3

......WILL NEVER EVER CHANGE TO ANY OTHER SYSTEM FOR ANY REASON .......

i know they seem  to be greety but walk in ther shoes for one minute we would do the same freaken thing cause people will buy.  so people stop bitchen or buy some other system and you'll still bitch about that

Got to agree with warpig. I take care of mine pretty well. I know their sophisticated machines but people seem to treat them like computers and leave them on for long periods of time. PCs generally have better cooling components then the PS3.  While not the main culprit, leaving the systems on will play a part in a system failing.

I was guilty of not cleaning it everyday.  I wipe it down once a week...and clean the fans and exhaust ports at least once a month tho.  The only thing I'm bitching about is their customer service.  I don't really feel like I'm bitching too much.  Just wanted it made right.  They have a known problem with their system, and they didn't fix it.

No Probs. here.  I thought you were just kidding around anyway, until I scrolled back through and noticed that I was the only one complaining. lol  You knew I wasn't getting an xbox anyway...It would take more than $150 to get me away from you guys....$200, maybe.

Well if you don't want to deal with them, cause I do know how much they suck cause I had a ps2 slim problem when it first came out, if you buy the extended warranties at wall mart or target or whatever you only deal with that store instead.

Interesting article that relates to problems with consoles. I agree with everything in it with the exception of the "be green" reasoning.
