I just wanted to share my experience with you.

I got the YLOD on the ps3 on a Saturday. Spent the evening going through the 3 stages of grief. After some searches and some questions answered i came to the conclusion of sending it away to be repaired.

There were many advantages of going with Gophermods.
First was the repair of MY ps3. Yes that's right, i would get MY actual ps3 back fixed for $70.
This is what most say persuaded them to use this company.
"Don't be fooled by other companies using IR systems that might repair the PCB temporarily, but that can actually do more harm than good to the board and chips. You want complete re flow of then entire ball of solder on every connection, not just tangential re flow that can open up again if the board flexes."
So the benefit for me is i lost no information off my ps3. All sub accounts, messages, downloads, everything, still there.

Second reason was I had the option of upgrading my hard drive. So i chose a 320gb HDD for $80. While i know the price is a little high, I did not have to do any work and did not have to purchase an external HD to do the swap. For $80 they did everything and returned my old 40gb in a static sleeve.

Third main reason i decided on Gophermods was the 24 hour turn around. THAT'S RIGHT 24 HOURS! I didn't mind so much, but my kids did. They do the work in 24 hours.

With all my reasoning this sounded like a good call. I ended up sending it in on Monday and paying a total of about 165.00. They delivered on all accounts and received it back at my house on the folowing Tuesday. That's 8 days total including the weekend!

The instructions that were sent indicate that the cure time is roughly 200 hours. It says you should run the ps3 no more than 2 hours at a time. Let it cool for about half an hour in between. And do not leave it on running folding at home.

The experience i had with them was stellar! All went smooth and flawless. I HIGHLY recommend Gophermods to anyone and everyone.  They offer many more services for the ps3 and other "tech" devices.

Check the site and even call. I heard they have VERY good customer care and are very friendly.

thanks for the info dud. sent mine out yesterday. had the yellow light of death. went to the site it was great easy to understand  even had a video showing what the problem i had .wish i had the money to upgrade it a bit but guess i really dont need it . let you guys know my out come sent it over night they should get it tommorow i should get it back later in the week

It truly was a scary experience but they were great. As you can imagine, I was nervous about the whole situation.

just got my ps3 back today only 6 days and its back where it belongs . started her up and everything is just as it was .very happy over the outcome . highly recommend this site for anybody with there  ps3 problem. thankyou mister feeddunk. good looken out....... now i shall do the dance of joy

Awesome! Now just follow the instructions about limited playing time. I'm almost done with the break-in process.
